SketchUp Go costs $129 a year or $19.99 month to month; Pro costs $399 a year or $99.99 month to month, per user before tax. The $33.25 beside annual Pro is a monthly equivalent: the charge is $399 upfront. [Studio](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/products/sketchup-studio/buy?ref=sketchupguide.net) costs $859 a year, and [Pro Advanced Workflows](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/products/sketchup-pro-advanced-workflows/buy?ref=sketchupguide.net) costs $599\. I'd choose annual Pro for ongoing desktop work because the fourth monthly payment already exceeds the annual price.

The bill follows the tools you need. [Go covers web and iPad modeling](https://sketchupguide.net/sketchup-vs-sketchup-pro/). Pro adds the desktop application, LayOut and extensions; the specialist plans add scanning, Revit or field workflows. Free remains a browser option for non-commercial work.

## SketchUp prices per user

[Trimble's plans and pricing page](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/plans-and-pricing?ref=sketchupguide.net) separates annual and monthly subscriptions and excludes tax and VAT. These are US-dollar prices for one person. A named-user subscription belongs to a real individual, so two people need two seats even if they share a computer.

Only Go and Pro offer month-to-month billing. [SketchUp's plan-change rules](https://help.sketchup.com/en/accounts-and-administration/plan-upgrades-and-downgrades?ref=sketchupguide.net) explicitly list the other four as annual-only subscriptions. Pro works on Windows and Mac; don't buy the Windows-only Studio bundle for a Mac rendering job without checking the renderer's separate licensing and requirements.

### Check the annual total before paying

Studio is listed at $71.58 per user per month billed annually, with an annual total of $859\. Pro Advanced Workflows is $49.92 per month billed annually, with an annual total of $599\. Those monthly equivalents describe one annual payment; they are not monthly subscription options.

Budget from the printed annual total. Multiplying a rounded monthly equivalent can leave a few cents of difference. Before confirming an order, check the plan name, annual or monthly term, seat count, currency, tax and total in the order summary. If the total differs from the price you expected, stop there and ask sales to confirm it.

## When annual billing costs less

Annual billing takes the year's payment at the start. Monthly billing takes one month's payment at a time. The [plans FAQ](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/plans-and-pricing?ref=sketchupguide.net) says subscriptions normally renew for an equal term at the then-current price, so the price paid this year doesn't lock the next renewal.

This distinction causes real confusion. In [a SketchUp forum discussion about the annual charge](https://forums.sketchup.com/t/cost-of-sketchup/346299?ref=sketchupguide.net), a solo designer expected the advertised monthly equivalent to mean monthly payments. The useful comparison is the cash charged over the months you need, not the large number printed on the card.

__Calculated from the posted USD prices, with one user, no tax or promotion, and an unchanged monthly rate.__
| Plan | Monthly payments below the annual price | First payment count above it | Twelve monthly payments |
| ---- | --------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------ | ----------------------- |
| Pro | 3 × $99.99 = $299.97 | 4 × $99.99 = $399.96, versus $399 annually | $1,199.88 |
| Go | 6 × $19.99 = $119.94 | 7 × $19.99 = $139.93, versus $129 annually | $239.88 |

For a Pro project that ends within three paid months, monthly costs less upfront and in total. Disable auto-renewal before the fourth payment if the work is finished. For continuing work, annual Pro costs less from the fourth payment onward. Go's crossover comes with the seventh payment.

[![Pro billing comparison: three monthly payments total $299.97 and four total $399.96, against $399 annually](https://storage.ghost.io/c/91/44/91442afd-0c5c-4b43-a595-8db40125cd56/content/images/2026/11/a03-pro-billing-crossover.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/91/44/91442afd-0c5c-4b43-a595-8db40125cd56/content/images/2026/11/a03-pro-billing-crossover.webp?ref=sketchupguide.net)

At $99.99 a month, four Pro payments total $399.96, against $399 for the annual plan. One user, USD, before tax, with unchanged prices and no promotion.

## Refunds: the first purchase and renewal have different rules

[SketchUp's refund policy](https://help.sketchup.com/en/admin/refunds-and-cancellations?ref=sketchupguide.net) gives annual subscriptions a 14-day window from the initial purchase or annual renewal date, and excludes monthly renewal fees. The [plans FAQ gives seven days for the initial monthly purchase](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/plans-and-pricing?ref=sketchupguide.net). Don't apply the annual 14-day window to a monthly renewal.

![Annual and monthly billing lanes with shaded refund windows and numbered purchase, later checkpoint, cancellation and renewal markers](https://storage.ghost.io/c/91/44/91442afd-0c5c-4b43-a595-8db40125cd56/content/images/2026/11/a03-refund-timeline-provenance-20261104T235206418151Z.webp)

Shaded bands mark the refund windows: 14 days after an annual purchase or annual renewal, seven days after the first monthly purchase. On both lanes, 1 is the purchase; 2 is a later checkpoint after the window has closed; 3 shows auto-renewal switched off ahead of the renewal marked 4\. Monthly renewals are not refundable. Lengths are not to scale. [Open the billing timeline at full size](https://storage.ghost.io/c/91/44/91442afd-0c5c-4b43-a595-8db40125cd56/content/images/2026/11/a03-refund-timeline-provenance-20261104T235206418151Z.webp?ref=sketchupguide.net).

For a direct Trimble purchase, contact support from the email address or company domain associated with the SketchUp account. Include the transaction email address, account number and transaction date. An approved refund ends the subscription and its paid features immediately, so finish work that needs those features before requesting it.

Go bought in the App Store follows Apple's purchase terms. The [iPad FAQ says only Apple can refund an Apple purchase](https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup-ipad/ipad-faq?ref=sketchupguide.net). A reseller purchase also needs its own seller's terms checked; a price shown here doesn't override them.

## Stop the next charge without deleting your account

Turning off auto-renewal preserves access until the paid term ends and returns no money. Deleting the Trimble account doesn't cancel its subscriptions. [SketchUp's cancellation instructions](https://help.sketchup.com/en/how-to-cancel-sketchup-subscription?ref=sketchupguide.net) give this route for the account that manages the purchase:

1. Sign in to the Trimble Admin Console with the managing Trimble ID. Open **Products & Licenses**, then select the subscription if there is more than one.
2. Choose **Manage Subscriptions > Manage > Turn off auto-renewal**.
3. Open **Scheduled Changes** and confirm that **Auto-renewal** reads **Off**. Check the expiration date before leaving.

If the account still uses the older Account Management Portal, open **Plan Settings > Edit Plan Settings > Manage Auto-Renewal**, turn the toggle off and choose **Done**. An App Store subscription must be cancelled through Apple instead.

[![Trimble Admin Console Auto-renewal On section with Turn off auto-renewal highlighted, followed by the instruction to confirm Off in Scheduled Changes](https://storage.ghost.io/c/91/44/91442afd-0c5c-4b43-a595-8db40125cd56/content/images/2026/11/a03-admin-stop-renewal.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/91/44/91442afd-0c5c-4b43-a595-8db40125cd56/content/images/2026/11/a03-admin-stop-renewal.webp?ref=sketchupguide.net)

In the Trimble Admin Console, choose Turn off auto-renewal. Then open Scheduled Changes and confirm that Auto-renewal is Off; access continues until the paid term ends.

When paid access ends, Free allows 10 GB in Trimble Connect. The refund policy says existing files above that limit remain accessible, but you can't add new files until storage falls below 10 GB.

## Changing plans doesn't always lower today's bill

Under [SketchUp's plan-change rules](https://help.sketchup.com/en/accounts-and-administration/plan-upgrades-and-downgrades?ref=sketchupguide.net), an annual upgrade applies a prorated amount from the original subscription to the new purchase and makes the new features available immediately. An annual downgrade starts at the current term's end. Keep auto-renewal on for that scheduled downgrade; disabling it is the route for ending the subscription entirely.

A Go-to-Pro monthly upgrade is prorated and immediate; a monthly downgrade begins with the next term. To change from annual to monthly, turn off annual auto-renewal and wait until the paid year ends before buying the monthly plan. For monthly to annual, turn off monthly auto-renewal before buying the annual subscription. Trimble warns that leaving it on can produce two charges. These routes cover purchases made directly through SketchUp.

## Free access, education and costs outside the plan

[SketchUp Free is for non-commercial browser modeling](https://help.sketchup.com/en/admin/sketchup-free?ref=sketchupguide.net), with 10 GB of Trimble Connect storage. For a short desktop evaluation, the [Pro trial runs for seven days with no credit card required](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/try-sketchup?ref=sketchupguide.net). It isn't a permanent free desktop license. Trimble [stopped selling new perpetual Classic licenses on November 4, 2020](https://help.sketchup.com/en/end-of-classic-license-faq?ref=sketchupguide.net).

The [student plan costs $55 per year](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/products/sketchup-edu-for-students/buy?ref=sketchupguide.net), and the [faculty plan also costs $55 per year](https://sketchup.trimble.com/en/products/sketchup-edu-for-faculty/buy?ref=sketchupguide.net), before tax. Both require academic validation before purchase and have no automatic renewal. Students re-verify annually; faculty re-verify every two years. Institutional licensing has separate volume pricing. SketchUp for Schools is free for eligible K-12 Google or Microsoft education accounts.

Budget separately for tax, any paid extensions and any renderer outside your subscription. The [tax guidance says a valid VAT ID doesn't always prevent tax being charged](https://help.sketchup.com/en/vat-tax-and-tax-information?ref=sketchupguide.net). Regional prices and reseller offers also need their own quote; converting the USD table won't establish a local bill.

AI has its own allowance and optional add-on. The [SketchUp AI subscription adds 1,500 credits per month](https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup-ai-subscription?ref=sketchupguide.net), is limited to one per account and renews separately. Its help page gives no price, so check the amount in the in-app purchase flow before adding it.

Choose the tool first, then the term: Go for web or iPad, Pro for desktop and LayOut, a specialist bundle only for the extra workflow you need. Before paying, make the order summary agree with your intended plan, number of people and billing period, and put the renewal date where you'll see it.
